You Are Not Outdated, Retirement is!

Updated: Sep 22

You know how people like to talk about "the good old days"? Well, guess what? Those days might be old, but you sure aren’t. In fact, you’ve never been sharper, savvier, and more connected. It's retirement that’s gotten a little...well, outdated.

Let’s be real: what retirement looks like on TV - walks on the beach, gardening, golf and apparently lots of Viagra, isn't what it really is or has to be. You can say goodbye to the 1950's version of retirement. Retirement 2024, isn't about slowing down (or keeping it up - sorry had to ),it's about leveling up! You're not outdated, you’re just getting started.

Let’s Break it Down:

1. Outdated: The 9-5 Grind

Remember when people thought you were “done” at 65? Hah! These days, you’re more likely to be found launching your own gig on Fiverr, mentoring young professionals, or starting that passion project you've been dreaming of. Retirement is no longer about clocking out; it’s about clocking in to what you want to do.

2. Outdated: Endless Golf (or Pickleball, or Canasta)

Hey, golf is great—no shade to the folks who love a good 9-hole stroll. But who decided that hitting a ball into a hole was the only activity retirees were allowed to enjoy? These days, you're just as likely to be trekking the Inca Trail, taking a photography class, or learning to salsa dance.

3. Outdated: "I Guess I’ll Just Volunteer"

Volunteering is amazing, don’t get me wrong. But retirement used to mean that was your only option to fill the time. Now? Maybe you’re coaching a startup, writing a memoir, or, heck, doing a TED Talk.

4. Outdated: Sitting Still

Today’s retirees are crushing 10,000 steps before breakfast, completing yoga challenges, or even taking up CrossFit. (I mean, why not? If Betty White can do it, you can, too.) Sitting still is so last century. Whether you’re mastering the downward dog or just really nailing your Peloton stats, retirement’s new motto is: Move or lose it.

5. Outdated: The “End of the Line”

Retirement used to feel like a conclusion—an ending point. Now it’s more like an ellipsis…a wide-open space where anything can happen. You’re not riding into the sunset; you’re creating your own. It's a time for reinvention, exploration, and even a second (or third!) career.

The New Normal:

You’re still here, stronger than ever, while retirement is being reinvented in a million different ways every day. Retirement hasn’t caught up with you, but that’s okay. You’re not outdated—retirement is. Don't wait until ....Reimagine your retirement today!
